Conrad Wilhelm Ferdinand von Prondzynski (also: Prondzinski , born November 26, 1804 in Graudenz ; † February 26, 1871 in Berlin-Köpenick ) was the Prussian infantry general and most recently governor of the fortress Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein . As a prime lieutenant , he wrote a two-volume theory of war .

His parents were the lieutenant a. D. and Herr auf Schwierse with Oels Johann Georg Maximilian von Prondczynski (* February 18, 1773; † 1828) and his wife Wilhelmine Luise von Wittich (* February 29, 1768; † 1833). His father was a lieutenant a. D. and Mr. on Schwierse at Oels.

Career

He went to Kulm as a cadet on August 3, 1816 and came to Berlin as a cadet on June 4, 1818. Then he was on July 28, 1821 as second lieutenant in the 19th Infantry Regiment. From there he was posted to the General War School from 1824 to 1827 . After his return he was an adjutant to the battalion from 1828 to 1833 , and from 1829 to 1830 he was also a teacher at the division school of the 10th Division. On his return he was aggregated into the 15th Infantry Regiment on October 26, 1833 . From 1837 to 1840 he was posted to the Topographical Office and was transferred to the 17th Infantry Regiment on March 30, 1838 as Premier Lieutenant. He was transferred to the 6th Landwehr Brigade as an adjutant on February 19, 1842, and from 1843 he was also employed as a teacher at the United Artillery and Engineering School in Berlin. To this end, he was aggregated into the 20th Infantry Regiment on March 30, 1844, leaving his position as captain with a patent on April 30, 1840. On March 22, 1847 he was then company commander in the 7th Infantry Regiment. During the Poznan Riots in 1848, he fought in battle with Lions. On November 9, 1849, he was transferred to the 7th Landwehr Regiment as a major , where he was commander of the 2nd battalion in Jauer . There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on July 13, 1854 and transferred to the 23rd Infantry Regiment on May 10, 1855, where he was commander of the fusilier battalion. On June 15, 1857 he was transferred to the 21st Infantry Regiment as commander, where he was promoted to colonel on May 22, 1858. On October 3, 1859, he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class with ribbon , and on August 23, 1860, he was transferred to the 9th Infantry Brigade as commander, with the 21st Infantry Regiment à la suite . He was promoted to major general there on October 18, 1861 and awarded the Order of the Red Eagle 2nd class with oak leaves on January 18, 1863 .

On January 29, 1863, he came to the fortress of Luxembourg as commandant and was entrusted with leading the occupation brigade there. He stayed there until June 25, 1865, when he was promoted to lieutenant general and commander of the 12th division . On March 11, 1865 he received the Grand Officer's Cross of the Luxembourg oak crown and on January 19, 1866 the star for the Order of the Red Eagle.

During the German War he took part in the battle of Königgrätz and the enclosure of Josefstadt. For this he received the Pour le Mérite on September 20, 1866 . He was then appointed governor of the Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress on May 18, 1867 . On September 10, 1867, he was awarded the Turkish Medschidje Order 1st Class and on August 23, 1869 with the Order of the Red Eagle 1st Class with Oak Leaves . He was put up for retirement on June 5, 1870 , and he was given the character of a general of the infantry. On June 17, 1870, he received another 1000 thalers to cover the expenses related to his departure. He died on February 26, 1871 in Berlin-Köpenick.

He married Marie Rosalie von Courbiere (1815–1901), daughter of Charles Andrexandre de l'Homme de Courbière (1782–1867) and Charlotte von Contrad. The couple had 11 children including:
