Ferenc Doór

Ferenc Doór (born June 14, 1918 in Petrilla ; † July 10, 2015 in Szentendre ) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist, called "the lover of Danube and Szentendre".

Life

Ferenc Doór was born in Petrilla, Transylvania , in 1918 . From 1938 to 1941 he studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest with István Szőnyi . After the Second World War he was a prisoner of war in Siberia for three years . After his release (1949) he finished his studies, then he worked as a teacher (assistant professor) at Szőnyi. As such, he took part in Hungarian artistic life. In 1957 he became a member of the Friends of Fine Arts.

Through the painting of Nagybánya , painting with natural subjects and human figures, a rich color scheme appears in his work. Creating a balanced composition in oil and watercolor paintings was the main element of his expression of color and light.

At the age of 97, he died on July 10, 2015 in his home in Szentendre .

Exhibitions

Doór had numerous exhibitions in Hungary and abroad and worked for decades in Szentendre and in the creative communities of the artist houses in Szigliget , Kecskemét , Hódmezővásárhely and Mártély . In the 1950s, it was featured in a joint exhibition at the Budapest Art Hall , as well as in other exhibition spaces around the country.

In 2011 Doór was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit of Hungary.
