Fertőszéplak (German: Schlippach am See ) is a municipality in the Sopron district in Győr-Moson-Sopron County in Hungary .
The international Lake Neusiedl cycle path leads through Fertőszéplak . Other Hungarian places along this route are Fertőd , Hegykő , Fertőhomok , Hidegség , Fertőboz , Balf and Fertőrákos .
The important Hungarian noble family of Széchenyi originally came from Fertőszéplak before they moved their ancestral home to Nagycenk in the 18th century .
Culture
buildings
- All Saints Church: Count György Széchenyi had the baroque church built in 1726. Next to the church is a small baroque calvary .
- Széchenyi Castle: Opposite the church is the old seat of the Széchenyi family.
- Folklore Open Air Museum: In Széplaki Street there are some examples of Hungarian peasant baroque . The Folklore Open-Air Museum is located in five of these beautifully restored arcade houses. The exhibition shows the history, life and the world of work as well as folk art of the people living here along the Neusiedler See . In the houses, the development of home decor from 1850 to 1950 and old craftsmanship , e.g. B. Basketry from reeds from the nearby lake, weaving and inland fishing , clearly shown. In the auxiliary buildings, some of which are traditionally roofed with thatch , equipment and examples of the increasing mechanization of rural life are on display.

Road No. 8518 and No. 8522 meet in Fertőszéplak. The Fertőszéplak-Fertő train station to the east of the municipality is connected to the railway line from Neusiedl am See to Fertőszentmiklós .
