Harka ( German : Harkau , Croatian : Horka ) is a municipality in the county Győr-Moson-Sopron in the northwest of Hungary . The place is near the Austrian border four kilometers south of Sopron .
location
Harka is located directly on the Austro-Hungarian border about 4 km south of Sopron. After Haschendorf and Unterpetersdorf in the municipality Neckenmarkt in the southwest there are about 3 km away, as by German Kreutz in the south, with which it also by the rail service from Sopron from about km only about 10 long active rest of Burgenlandbahn connected. About 6 km to the east is the southern swamp area of Lake Neusiedl .
history
A first documentary mention is Harka on 17th June 1245 in a donation of the Hungarian King Bela IV. , In which he, the Good Bujuslow ( German Kreutz ) to Marcellus de Pagha and Sebretus de Szamtou handed while as Gemarkungsgrenze among other things, a "villa Harka" is called.
In the referendum in Burgenland in 1921 , a good 90% of the residents voted to belong to Austria, but the place remained as part of the Ödenburg area with Hungary.
