Final Song is the title of a song by the Danish singer . It was published on all popular download portals in May 2016 .

Musical

Final Song was created as a collaboration between MØ, Swedish singer Noonie Bao and British musician and producer MNEK . The artists wrote the song in Los Angeles in early 2016 . MØ then sent an email to MNEK asking him to make the song a little "easier". Since the result was too "easy" for her, however, she flew to London herself to work on the mix of the song with MNEK in their studio . The result was a 3:55 electro-pop song with influences from Tropical House . The song is written in the key of E major , at a rate of 105 beats per minute . MØ's vocal range covers the notes from B3 to E5.

The lyrics of the song are about recognizing one's inner strength [“reconnecting with your inner strength”], MØ further said: “We all need to feel empowered from within to be the best version of ourself, but it's not always easy and that's what inspired me to write these lyrics. ”[We all have to feel strong from the inside out, but that's not always easy, and that's what made me write these lyrics.] She went on to explain that the song was very personal for them: “I need a song like that, for me at least. I want that spark and that fire. ”[I need a song like this, at least just for myself. I want to feel that spark and that fire.]

"But when you're gone the music goes,
I lose my rhythm, lose my soul.
So hear me out before you say the night is over,
I want you to know that we gotta, gotta carry on.
So don't let this be our final song. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

“But as soon as you're gone, the music stops playing.
I'm losing my rhythm, I'm losing my soul
So listen to me before you say the night is over
I want you to know that we have to keep going,
so don't let this be our last song. "

- Refrain, translation

MØ published a short excerpt of the song on her Instagram page for the first time on May 9, 2016 . The whole song premiered on a broadcast on the British radio station BBC Radio 1 .

Music video

The music video, directed by Thomas Whitmore, was released on June 9, 2016. The video is set at the Trona Pinnacles in the California desert and at Mono Lake . In the video, the singer can be seen both alone and with a group of dancers. MØ described the video as more spiritual and fragile than her previous videos.
