The Fischingertal is a valley about 5 kilometers long between Mumpf and Schupfart in the Rheinfelden district , Canton Aargau , Switzerland . The four municipalities of Schupfart, Obermumpf , Mumpf and Wallbach, which are part of the Fischinger Valley , have a total of around 4,700 inhabitants.

geography

The valley lies in the north-eastern Table Jura ; the part of the Swiss Jura which, in contrast to its unfolded parts ( Folded Jura ), was not folded. The Fischingertal runs practically in a straight line from south-east to north-west and is surrounded by wide, tabular plateaus into which the steep-walled and narrow valley is deepened. It is traversed by the Fischingerbach , which on the northern flank of the Tiersteinberg at Schupfart at approx. 550  m above sea level. M. rises and at Mumpf at 286  m above sea level. M. flows into the Upper Rhine . Like most of the other Jura valleys in the Fricktal region, the Fischinger Valley has a very narrow valley floor. On the south-western side of the valley is the extensive Looberg-Wabrig-Hersberg plateau, which separates the Fischingertal from the Möhlintal , which runs parallel to it .

The valley stretches over an area of 1,979  ha (19.79 km²), of which 36% are forest and 12% are settlement areas, 49% are used for agriculture. With 4,665 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2006) the valley has a population density of 235 inh. / Km².

use

Thanks to favorable climatic influences, the valley has up to 40 more sunny days than the Swiss Plateau and is mostly fog-free. Thanks to the relatively mild climate and the sheltered location of the Fischingertal, the valley is also suitable for viticulture . So the are on the south side Eikerberges in Obermumpf the grape variety Pinot Noir for red wine processing to upper Mumpfer Pinot Noir as well as the grape variety Müller-Thurgau for processing for white wine top Mumpfer Riesling x Sylvaner grown.

Above Schupfart is the Fricktal-Schupfart airfield, where the "Schupfart Festival" takes place every year.

traffic

The Fischingertal is connected to the public transport network by the PostBus Northern Switzerland bus route 90 ( Möhlin –Wallbach – Mumpf – Schupfart) . A few postbus courses connect the Fischingertal from Schupfart to the Möhlintal (via Fricktal-Schupfart airport to Wegenstetten ). The Mumpf train station, which is located between the communities of Mumpf and Wallbach, is on the Bözberg line . The S1 line of the Basel S-Bahn , which runs from Basel to Frick or Laufenburg , runs here. The nearest junction of the A3 motorway , which crosses the Fischinger Valley at Mumpf via a viaduct, is in Eiken , around 5 km east of Mumpf and around 4 km north of Schupfart.
