The Syrinx flute ensemble is a group of young musicians from the Minsk State Music Academy , Belarus .

history

The Syrinx flute ensemble was founded in 1980 by Nina Avramenko, professor at the Minsk State Music Academy. In the beginning it consisted of students from the Belarusian State Conservatory who played many concerts outside of their studies.

Today Syrinx consists of students and graduates of the Belarusian State Music Academy Minsk. The members of today's ensemble are mostly winners of national and international music competitions and, as long as they have graduated from the Conservatory of Music, play as professional musicians in the Belarusian State Theater for Opera and Ballet, in the Belarusian Philharmonic and in other large Belarusian orchestras.

Naming

The name of the flute ensemble Syrinx can be traced back to a legend in Greek mythology . This tells the following:

Pan , the god of shepherds and their flocks, once fell in love with the beautiful nymph Syrinx . To save herself from him, the nymph turned to the god of the river. This turned it into a reed . Troubled Pan cut off the reeds and carved a reed flute out of it. The notes of this flute are Pan's eternal longing for lost love. You are the soul of the Syrinx.

Cooperation with Heim-instead of Chernobyl

From 2001 to 2016, the ensemble worked with the German charity Heim-statt Tschernobyl and helped to raise funds for the construction of houses for resettlers from the contaminated regions of Belarus. Once a year, the ensemble went on tour through Germany and gave benefit concerts in ten different cities and communities across Germany.

Voices for the ensemble

The ensemble is known to an audience from many large and small Belarusian cities. It also performed successfully in Russia ( Moscow , Saint Petersburg ), Ukraine ( Kiev , Kharkiv , Odessa , Khmelnyzkyj ), Lithuania ( Vilnius , Kaunas ), Poland , Luxembourg , France and Germany .

  • Art magazine, No. 12, year 2000:

[...] the unity of the colors, the timbre and the technical mastery, these are the special characteristics of the Syrinx flute ensemble. Their playing differs in the highest level of synchronicity, smooth lines, the flow of voice guidance [...] "

  • Local gazette Siegen, 2008:

The Syrinx flute ensemble has been inspiring people in Belarus and Germany for many years. The concerts of the young professional musicians are always a guarantee for breathtaking and unforgettable sound experiences. "

  • Neue Westfälische Tageszeitung, November 2, 2009:

[...] With a large selection of different flutes, the musicians turned works by Bach, Vivaldi, Handel and Strauss, among others, into a top-class musical experience. All musical contributions were specially arranged for the flute ensemble, because there are hardly any original compositions by great masters for pure flute groups. Virtuoso, synchronously and with masterful precision, the flutists elicited the notes from their instruments and the timbres delighted the audience, as did the homogeneous interplay. [...] "

  • Swabian Post, November 10, 2009:

[...] The virtuoso highlight of the performance was the“ Tarantella ”with Russian characteristics by Vladimir Tsybin, the founder of the Russian flute school. Highly virtuoso playing in unison, a touchstone for the individual flute and the ensemble! The chains of clay pearled as if razor-sharp at a breakneck pace that seemed far from any uncertainty. The concluding Straussian “Perpetuum Mobile” once again underlined the frightening speed at which the ensemble knows how to make music with the highest precision in every respect with sophisticated blowing technique. [...] "

  • Gäubote, October 31, 2011:

" [...] They opened the concert with a movement from Bach's church cantata" Blessed is the man "BWV 57. They interpreted the aria, which was transcribed for six flutes and piano, with a full, round sound and the necessary calm. It was already evident here that the instrumentalists feel the music. No matter what kind of music it was - a tango by the Argentine Astor Piazolla, a much-applauded operatic movement by the French flautist and composer Jules Demersseman, an Adagio by the Italian Tomaso Albinoni - the Belarusian artists were always there with body and soul. [...] "
