The Flatrock River is the left headwaters of the East Fork White River in the US state of Indiana . It has a length of 142 km. Its catchment area covers an area of around 1390 km². The mean discharge at the Columbus gauge near the mouth is 17.9 m³ / s.
course
The Flatrock River has its source in the town of Mooreland in Henry County in eastern Indiana. It flows mainly in a south-westerly direction. The town of New Castle is west of the upper reaches. The Flatrock River flows through Counties Henry, Rush , Decatur , Shelby and Bartholomew . The village of Lewisville, the small town of Rushville and the village of St. Paul lie on the river . Eventually the Flatrock River reaches the city of Columbus , where it meets the Driftwood River and merges with it to form the East Fork White River.
Historic bridges
The following covered bridges are located on the Flatrock River:
- Forsythe Covered Bridge (built in 1888)
- Moscow Covered Bridge (built in 1886, renovated in 2010)
- Norris Ford Covered Bridge (built in 1916)
- Smith Covered Bridge (built in 1877, renovated in 1996)

On the lower reaches there are 37 kilometers of the river for a 7-hour canoe tour of moderate difficulty (from Indiana State Road 9 to US Highway 31 ).
