Flavian Kassala

Flavian Matinde Kassala (born December 4, 1967 in Sumve , Mwanza , Tanzania ) is a Tanzanian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Geita .

Life

Flavian Kassala attended the minor seminary of the Musoma diocese in Makoko, the minor seminary of the Mbulu diocese in Sanu and the preparatory course of the Geita diocese in Kome. He then studied philosophy at the seminary in Bukoba and theology at the seminary in Tabora . On July 11, 1999, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Geita . From 1999 to 2002 he was chaplain in Sengerema, from 2002 to 2004 teacher and spiritual at the Minor Seminary in Sengerema. From 2004 to 2012 he studied at the Pontificia Università Salesiana (UPS) in Rome, where he was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD. From 2013 to 2015 he taught at the St. Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT) in Arusha .

On April 28, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Geita. He was ordained episcopate on June 12th of the same year by the Archbishop of Mwanza , Jude Thadaeus Ruwa'ichi OFMCap . Co- consecrators were the outgoing Apostolic Nuncio in Tanzania, Archbishop Francisco Montecillo Padilla , and the Bishop of Bunda , Renatus Leonard Nkwande ,
