Florian Baucke
Florian Baucke (* 24. September 1719 in Tiny , Silesia ; † 14. July 1779 in Neuhaus . Bohemia ; and timpani or Paucke ) was a Jesuit missionary and writer .
Life
Florian Baucke entered the order of the Societas Jesu in October 1736 . After his ordination in 1748 Paucke was in the Mission of Paraguay transmitted. Baucke initially dealt with theological studies. From 1751 he worked as a missionary working, especially among Macobi - Indians , a very warlike tribe. After the order was expelled from Paraguay ( 1768 ), Baucke returned to the Bohemian province. Baucke's literary work over the years in South America has been published several times, for example by J. Frast, 1870 , last v. G. Furlong, Buenos Aires 1942 . It reports on Father Baucke's trip to Paraguay, the Gran Chaco , the way of life, customs and habits of the Indians visited by Baucke, on life in the reduction of St. Xaverius and Christianity among the Indians. The expulsion of the Jesuits from Paraguay is also discussed. Baucke's report is designed in a realistic and partly humorous way. The original manuscript, provided by Baucke with extensive watercolors , is in the library of the Austrian Zwettl Abbey .
