The Schleswig-Kropp airfield is a special airfield and is located in the town of Kropp south of the city of Schleswig , Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The flight operations were officially opened on May 18, 1968.
history
The special landing site belongs to today's Aero Club Kropp .
It has its origins in the German Aero Club, Luftsportverband Schleswig , a company founded in 1949 Luftsportverein . After the Second World War , the 34 founding members of the association, supported by Norwegian and British Air Force members , began their glider training on the grounds of the Schleswig military air base . When the air base was handed over to the newly founded West German naval aviation , private use of the site was no longer tolerated.
From the Diakonie in Kropp, the association received a suitable piece of meadow for lease near the B 77 . The property was later acquired.
The property was in the control zone of the neighboring naval aviation squadron, so that a permit for flight operations had to be issued from there. The then Commodore Admiral Günter Luther gave his approval with requirements regarding the approach and departure routes, radio frequencies and the registration of flight operations . In addition, it was generally prohibited to operate commercial air traffic on the field.
As early as March 24, 1967, Kurt Olk landed as the first motorized plane with the Cessna 172 (D-EFBS) on the grounds of the new Schleswig-Kropp airfield, the official commissioning took place on May 18, 1968 as part of a flight day.

In addition to a glider hangar and a corrugated iron circular hangar for motorized aircraft , a large hangar for microlight aircraft was built in 1990 .
Further development
The ban on commercial flight operations later saved the club from commercial buyers buying the space.
The Rendsburg neighbor club had previously lost its premises on the "Kamp" and had problems with commercial flight operations at the Rendsburg-Schachtholm airfield . So it came to the merger with the AeC Schleswig on October 3rd, 1970 . In 1991 a division of microlight aircraft was founded. In 2005, the Aero Club of the Schleswig-Flensburg / Rendsburg-Eckernförde districts was founded. V. renamed Aero-Club Kropp . In 1994 the club won the German championship in distance gliding .
