The Fokker M 10 was designed as a biplane , two-seat reconnaissance and training aircraft . Several of these aircraft were used in various designs by the German air force and the Austro-Hungarian aviation troops .

development

The M 10 was a further development of the M 7 and appeared in April 1915. It differed only slightly from it. The German air force ordered 55 units, which were delivered between May and September of that year. The aircraft were given either a single-leg or a two-legged structure and also different drives. The abbreviation BI given by the military was given to the specimens equipped with an 80 HP Oberursel U 0 rotary engine , the M 10, which was equipped with more powerful 100 HP UI engines from the same manufacturer, was given the designation B.II. The two-legged version differed from the predecessor M 7 due to the staggered areas and the missing tensioning towers on the upper side of the wing.

During the First World War, the imperial and royal aviation troops of Austria-Hungary lacked the necessary production capacity for aircraft, which is why they bought aircraft from their German ally. On October 17, 1914, they also ordered two versions of the Fokker M 10: the M 10E or BI with a single -leg supporting structure (E for single-leg) with a U 0 as drive, and the two-legged M 10Z (B. II, Z for two-legged ) with a U I .

The delivered construction lot of twelve M 10s was marked 03.13 to 03.24. On January 29, 1915 another twelve pieces were ordered. These aircraft came from used German stocks, were completely overhauled and were delivered without drives. They were given the service numbers 03.29 to 03.40. All planes served as unarmed trainers.
