In the west, the Forêt Domaniale de Marly-le-Roi is immediately adjacent , a wooded area with numerous hiking trails that extends over several kilometers and separates the urbanized metropolitan area of Paris from the rural surroundings. population

As recently as the early 1960s, Fourqueux had a population of less than 1,000 people. At the beginning of the 1970s and in the 1980s, the place experienced a strong influx, which caused the number of inhabitants to more than quadruple by the end of the millennium. Since the 1990s there has been a slight emigration again, but this is offset by a surplus of births, so that overall population growth is still continuing.
