The Franconian Muschwitz is a left tributary of the Rodach in the Thuringian Saale-Orla district and in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .

The Franconian Muschwitz rises at an altitude of 678 m above sea level. NHN in a forest. Its source, like that of the Thuringian Muschwitz, is located on the watershed between the Elbe and the Rhine near the 726-meter-high Kulmberg near Schlegel , a district of the Rosenthal am Rennsteig in the south of the Thuringian Saale-Orla district .
From there, the stream flows first in a southerly and then largely in a south-westerly direction almost along its entire length as a border stream between Bavaria and Thuringia through the Franconian Muschwitz nature reserve . It finally flows east of the core town of the market town of Nordhalben and north of its district Heinersberg at an altitude of 508 m above sea level. NHN in the Rodach .
