In parliament operation, the Group carries the abbreviation  V .

The parliamentary group of the Swiss People's Party represents more than 27.34 percent of the vote ( 2019 elections ). It consists of 55 national councilors (NR) and 7 councils of states (SR): 53 national councils and 6 councils of states of the Swiss People's Party (SVP) , a national council of the Lega dei Ticinesi , a national council of the Federal Democratic Union (EDU) and the independent council of states Thomas Minder .

The joint parliamentary group of SVP, Lega and EDU is independent in its decisions from other party organs, but it is based on the goals and programs of the parties. The nomination of the SVP candidates for the Federal Council elections is the sole responsibility of the SVP parliamentary group.
