Francisco Miguel Pereira Boavida Pires Belo (born March 27, 1991 in Castelo Branco ) is a Portuguese shot putter and discus thrower .

Athletic career

Francisco Belo gained his first international experience in 2010 at the Junior World Championships in Moncton , where he was eliminated from the qualification with a width of 18.16 m, as well as at the U23 European Championships the following year in Ostrava with 17.04 m. In 2013 he again took part in the U23 European Championships in Tampere , but also retired there with 17.63 m and 50.38 m in the preliminary round. In 2015 he reached twelfth place in the shot put at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju with 17.06 m and was 13th in the discus throw with 52.40 m. In 2017 he was eliminated from the qualification at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade with 19.55 m even at the World Championships in London with 19.47 m did not make it into the final . He then won the student world games in Taipei with 20.86 m in the shot put and reached fifth place with the discus with 59.78 m. In 2018 he was seventh at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona with 19.39 m and at the European Championships in Berlin he was eliminated with 19.66 m in qualification. In 2019 he finished fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with 20.97 m and was eliminated from qualifying at the World Championships in Doha with 19.52 m in October .

In 2018 and 2019, Belo was the Portuguese champion in discus throwing and in 2019 also indoor champion in the shot put.
