Life

Franco Interlenghi made his acting debut at the age of only 15 when he played the title role in the drama Sciuscià , directed by Vittorio De Sica . This was followed by smaller roles, but in 1952 he had another major appearance in the classic film Don Camillo and Peppone by Julien Duvivier . In Don Camillo , as in numerous other films from the 1950s, he embodied a young lover. A high point of his career was the lead role in Federico Fellini's The Idlers from 1953. Interlenghi was considered a teenage idol in Italy because of his looks at a young age. Still, he had limited success internationally. In 1955 he starred alongside Kirk Douglas in Mario Camerini's adventure film The Journeys of Odysseus , and in 1958 he was seen as the lover of Brigitte Bardot in A Woman 's Gun, who kills her at the end of the film for infidelity.

From the 1960s onwards, Interlenghi increasingly worked as a stage actor, for example in Death of a Salesman under the direction of Luchino Visconti . In his screen appearances since the 1970s, Interlenghi shifted increasingly to supporting roles and also played more often on television. He was involved in a total of almost 100 feature films, including in 1987 in Franco Rossi's Bible adaptation A Child with the Name of Jesus and in 1999 in Raffaele Mertes ' Jesus Legends - Joseph of Nazareth . In 2002 he played in Pope John XXIII. the role of Radini Tedeschi .

Since 1953 Interlenghi was married to the actress Antonella Lualdi . The marriage resulted in a daughter, Antonella Interlenghi (* 1961), who also works as an actress.
