Life

Panse was born April 8, 1942 in Pethau . From 1968 to 1971 he studied theater painting at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts . Since 1974 Panse has worked as a freelance artist in Dresden and Mutzschwitz . From 1981 he made his first study trips to Hungary , followed by others to France , Mexico and Italy . Before that, he created oil paintings and then, influenced by the travels, the material switched to acrylic and mixed techniques . From 1985 onwards he dealt with the work of Heiner Müller and Charles Bukowski . Own poems and smaller texts followed from 1995. Connections between exhibitions and readings of own texts.

"In my work, abstractions result from the superimposition of levels of perception. Figurative elements, signs and rivulets of paint result in picture structures that ultimately make the originally thought thread visible. I try to keep everything flowing until an order is established on the picture or sheet is. - Then the work can sit down and calm down internally. " - Frank Panse

The painter, who lives near Dresden, has carried this attitude for almost thirty years. Prior to that, Panse worked in the late seventies in a more disciplined and coloristically balanced manner, somewhere in the environment of Giorgio Morandi and subtle late impressionism . Then nervously bright colors burst out and the handwriting becomes more excited. Thereby he enriched Neo-Expressionism with the facet of the lyric - spontaneous. Like some of his peers, he kept his style after 1990 and differentiated it more. Grotesque faces, color cascades, enigmatic scenes or snapshots of a pausing image can appear. He does not force himself into any stylistic corset. Rather, he let himself be "seduced" by the emerging image itself, directly out of the work process, into the new image.
