Frank Paul Kistner (* 1959 in Heilbronn ) is a German photographer , multimedia artist and lecturer in photography.

Life

Kistner completed a social pedagogy degree in Esslingen and then completed a postgraduate course in film and photography in Remscheid. He has been a freelance photographer since 1990 and also lectures photography at the vocational college for graphic design in Stuttgart and since 2012 in Schwäbisch Gmünd . Kistner has been an appointed member of the German Society for Photography since 2015 .

The focus of Kistner's photographic work is people. He portrayed politicians, musicians, actors, writers, athletes such as Joachim Gauck , Gesine Schwan , Udo Lindenberg , Patricia Kaas , Armin Mueller-Stahl , Alice Schwarzer and Joachim Löw .

Solo exhibitions of his works took place at the Kunstverein Tauberbischofsheim , the Design Center Stuttgart , the Print Media Academy - Edition Braus Galerie in Heidelberg and the Galerie Anouk Sauvage in Stuttgart. Works by him can be seen in the Museum of Photography in Braunschweig , the graphic collection of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris.

His publications include the calendar Menschenbilder , which was awarded the calendar prize in 2006, as well as Berlin - A tour before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall, or the work Die Winzer vom Vulkan, which was awarded the World Cookbook Award in 2007 as “best photo wine book” . Kistner published a book about the radio and television talk show SWR1 Menschen together with the moderators and authors Wolfgang Heim and Stefan Siller .

Kistner is a member of the German Association of Journalists . Since 2015 he has been the first director of the KunstWerk Fellbach eV He lives in Stuttgart and Berlin.
