Ascent to the hut

The Franz Senn Hut is a mountain hut the hut Category I of Section Innsbruck of the Austrian Alpine Club . It is located at 2147 m above sea level. A. Height.

history

The hut was named after Franz Senn , the pastor of Neustift in the Stubaital and co-founder of the German Alpine Association . The hut was built in 1885, since then it has been expanded several times in 1907, 1932 and 1960. In 1907, today's access route from the Oberissalm was expanded to accommodate pack animals . The hut was closed during the Second World War and was used by the Wehrmacht as a high mountain school for mountain hunters . During this time, a material ropeway was also built , which has been used for supply ever since.
