The Freiherrn von Hohenfeld originally came from Lower Austria , a branch of the family was based in the Rhineland . It was founded by Achatius von Hohenfeld (1610–1672), a convert to the Catholic Church , the grandfather of Franz Carl Friedrich.

Franz Carl Friedrich von Hohenfeld became a Catholic priest . He owned a canonical at the St. Ferrutius Abbey in Bleidenstadt .

He also held the office of dean at the knight monastery in Wimpfen im Tal , as well as the dean of the cathedral in Worms . Franz Carl Friedrich von Hohenfeld died in Worms in 1757 and was buried in the local cathedral, where his high-quality marble epitaph has been preserved in the Georgskapelle . It is made of Lahn marble and bears the signature of the baroque sculptor Johann Strahl from Balduinstein . In George's Chapel is also that of Bishop Georg von Schoenberg in 1590, donated the altar of St. George . Franz Carl Friedrich von Hohenfeld had this renewed, which is why his coats of arms were subsequently attached to it ( pedestals of the two lower figures).

The epitaph in Worms Cathedral shows him u. a. as gentlemen from Aistersheim in Austria and co-gentlemen in Eisenbach (Taunus) .
