Franz Ferring (born July 23, 1910 in Tsingtau ; † February 24, 2000 in Würzburg ) was a German diplomat .

Foreign policy in the Third Reich

In 1932 Franz Fering studied law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin and Mandarin at the Department of Oriental Languages . In the late 1930s he was accredited at the Embassy of the German Reich in Paris and in 1939 at the Consulate General in Hong Kong . On April 1, 1939, he joined the NSDAP . As legation secretary, Ferring was from 1941 East Asia advisor to the broadcasting policy department of the Foreign Ministry under Joachim von Ribbentrop .

“The plutocrats and imperialists of Britain seem to have suffered a memory deficit due to the incessant blows of the German air force and navy, otherwise they couldn't stupidly claim that they wanted to free the workers at a moment when, on the one hand, the Indian workers are carrying out most of the strikes in order to free themselves from English imperialism, and on the other hand, social ideas and the esteem of the worker, especially in Germany and Italy, are very much cultivated and the workers here have been liberated from imperialist oppression in the truest sense of the word.

- Franz Ferring on January 8, 1941

“The Scottish mountains as the last refuge for the English. The last hour has struck for the British plutocracy and its world empire. Anyone who has heard the Fiihrer's speech on the 8th anniversary of the National Socialist uprising will know what 1941 will bring for the British. May the British say what they want in grandiose propaganda speeches, sometimes mistaken for the Indian and the other time for the American people, the last hour has struck for Britain. "

- Franz Ferring on February 6, 1941

On February 1, 1941, Ferring described Hitler as "the most popular and powerful people in the world".

“In response to the epoch-making speech by the great leader of the German people, Adolf Hitler, Churchill, as the main sinner of the British regime, which was tainted with war crimes, felt compelled to make a counter-speech. If one compares, on the one hand, the great statesmanlike tasks that Adolf Hitler set himself with, with Churchill's fearful stammering, one cannot avoid thinking of a wrestling match in the streets of Bombay, after which the defeated person closes the lost fight with a terrible cannonade of abuse tried to save. Churchill is scared. He is extremely afraid; for the course of the war has clearly shown that neither propagandistic oratorial skills nor outrageous lies can stop the fall of Britain.

The new age with its revolutionary urge overwhelms the full and grown old plutocracies, who still believe that they can hold back the development. The new ideas of business and technology find their expression in the rise of the German Reich under Adolf Hitler. "

- Franz Ferring on February 10, 1941

At the time, George Orwell was overseeing the BBC in British India .

Ferring was employed as an attaché in the consulates general in Hong Kong and Shanghai and went from there to Guatemala in May 1941 , since the envoy Christian Zinsser had been declared persona non grata there.

Federal Republic of Germany

Nothing is known about its denazification . At the end of May 1964, Ferring was in Department III of the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany responsible for lending to the Energía de Industrias Arragnesas SA in Spain, ruled by Francisco Franco .

From 1964 to 1969 he was ambassador to South Korea . After the South Korean embassy staff kidnapped 17 South Koreans from West Germany on instructions from Kim Hyung-Wook in 1968 , the Kiesinger Federal Government recalled him from Seoul for two months . This extraordinary rendition was carried out worldwide by the Korean secret service KCIA. 56 abductees were reported from the Federal Republic of Germany, 13 from France, six from the USA and four from the United Kingdom.

At the beginning of the social-liberal coalition , 25 members of the Foreign Service were put into temporary retirement by Foreign Minister Walter Scheel in order to reduce the unfavorable age pyramid of the Foreign Ministry . Official Franz Ferring also sued this administrative decision.
