Franz Friedrich von Sturmfeder (born December 11, 1758 in Mannheim , † February 26, 1828 in Augsburg ) was a German Catholic clergyman. From 1812 to 1818 and from 1819 to 1821 he was vicar general and diocese administrator in Augsburg .

Franz Friedrich came from the noble family of Sturmfeder von Oppenweiler and was born in Mannheim as the son of Franz Georg Ernst von Sturmfeder .

Together with his brother Karl Theodor he grew up in Dirmstein in their father's castle . There they were taught by the well-known scientist and polymath Johann Jakob Hemmer as private tutor, whom the Dirmstein pastor Johann Stertzner - Hemmer's mentor - had placed.

Franz Friedrich von Sturmfeder was a cleric in the diocese of Augsburg and was ordained a priest there on November 24, 1793 .

In autumn 1812, after the death of Bishop Clemens Wenzeslaus of Saxony, a vicariate general was created under his direction for the parts of the diocese of Augsburg that fell to Bavaria . After the reorganization of the church districts in 1818, Franz Karl Joseph zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst was elected Bishop of Augsburg, but died in 1819. Sturmfeder took over the office of Vicar General again until Bishop Joseph Maria Freiherr von Fraunberg took office . He died in Augsburg on February 26, 1828.

Franz Friedrich von Sturmfeder baptized Princess Mathilde Karoline of Bavaria , daughter of King Ludwig I (Bavaria) and later Grand Duchess of Hesse-Darmstadt , as dean of the cathedral and vicar general of Augsburg there on August 31, 1813 . According to an engraving of the coat of arms by Franz Xaver Jungwirth, Sturmfeder held the dignity of commander and spiritual dean of the Bavarian Order of Knights of St. George .

His niece Louise von Sturmfeder (1789–1866) was the well-known educator of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria and his brother Emperor Maximilian of Mexico .
