Franz Georg Hermann
Franz Georg Hermann (born December 29, 1692 in Kempten , † November 25, 1768 in Kempten) was a Baroque painter .
Life
Franz Georg Hermann was sent to Rome at the age of 15 . Hermann was assigned to the painter Sebastiano Conca in the Accademia di San Luca . In 1712 he won a prize for his colored pen drawing The Miracle of San Andrea Avellino . After eleven years of training in Italy, he returned to his homeland in 1718 and worked with his father, Franz Benedikt Hermann . First he worked in the Ottobeuren monastery or in Füssen . In the monastery church of St. Mang in Füssen he created ceiling and altar paintings . Later he carried out his trade in Immenstadt and Ettal . In the princely collegiate church of St. Lorenz in Kempten, Hermann painted the dome pictures in the Nikolaus and Benediktus chapel in 1736 and the five oval altar leaves in 1748.
In the state rooms of the Kempten Residence in Kempten , all the paintings on the ceilings and walls are by Hermann (except for the one in the court chancellery). Then there are the portraits of the prince abbots in the prince's hall of the residence. The facade of the country house in Kempten was also painted by Hermann. From 1740 to 1742 he painted the ballroom in the Ponikauhaus in the imperial city of Kempten. There is a self-portrait of the artist from 1767 in the Ulm Museum .
