Franz Grüter (born July 29, 1963 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

Life and work

Franz Grüter grew up in Ruswil . He attended the canton school in Willisau and then completed an apprenticeship as a truck mechanic in Ruswil. He later studied electrical engineering at a technical college and trained as a marketing planner. In 1990 he began his professional career as a member of the executive board of a company in the electronics industry. After that he became an entrepreneur himself and founded internet companies. In 2003 he worked for a Swiss trading company in the People's Republic of China . After returning to Switzerland, he took over the companies TIC The Internet Company AG and KPNQwest in 2005 . In 2008 he merged TIC The Internet Company AG with green.ch . From 2008 to the end of 2015, he was simultaneously CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the green.ch Group . In 2016 he passed the management on to have time for his new National Council mandate. In March 2017 he took over the vice-presidency of the industry umbrella organization ICTswitzerland and was elected to the board committee of the Swiss employers' association in June 2017 . Franz Grüter has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Luzerner Kantonalbank since April 2018 .

Franz Grüter is married and has three children.

Political career

Franz Grüter was President of SVP Canton Lucerne from May 2012 to June 2017 and sat for SVP in the Cantonal Council of Lucerne from March 2015 to November 2015 . He was elected to the National Council in the federal elections in October 2015 . After the National Council elections in 2019, he was elected Vice President of the parliamentary group of the SVP and in 2020 took over the post of chief of staff of the party president that had been created for him.
