Prisca Birrer-Heimo (born February 4, 1959 in Emmen ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ) and president of the Swiss Foundation for Consumer Protection .

Prisca Birrer-Heimo was a major councilor in the canton of Lucerne from June 1995 to May 2005 . In 2007 she became chief financial officer in the municipal council (executive) of Rothenburg. She held her office as a councilor until 2014.

On May 31, 2010 she took over Hans Widmer's seat in the National Council and was re-elected in the 2011 parliamentary elections. In the elections in October 2015 , she again secured her seat in the National Council. Initially she was a member of the Security Policy Commission, currently she is a member of the Audit Commission and the Commission for Economics and Taxes.

Prisca Birrer-Heimo is a trained teacher and has worked for several years as a high school teacher in various Lucerne communities. After serving as a research assistant to Government Councilor Paul Huber in 2000/01, she worked as a project manager at the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital until 2010 . Birrer-Heimo has been President of the Swiss Foundation for Consumer Protection since June 2011. She thus succeeded Simonetta Sommaruga , who had to hand over the Presidium after her election to the Federal Council .

Private

Birrer-Heimo is married, has two children and lives in Rothenburg .
