Ruedi Lustenberger

Ruedi Lustenberger (born April 2, 1950 in Romoos ; entitled to live there) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ). In the 2013/2014 year of office he was President of the National Council .

Political career

As a member of the Grand Council of Lucerne, of which he was a member from 1991 to 1999 and presided over it in 1999, Lustenberger gained his first experience in a legislative authority.

In the 1999 elections he was elected to the National Council. Lustenberger was a member of the State Political Commission (SPK), the Commission for Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (UREK) and the Business Audit Commission (GPK-NR) as well as a member of the administrative delegation and the NEAT supervisory delegation . In 2011/2012 he was second Vice President, 2012/2013 first Vice President, elected with 161 of 177 valid votes. On November 25, 2013 Lustenberger was elected President of the National Council with 175 out of 183 valid votes .

In 2014, Lustenberger faced criticism due to a casting vote in his office as President of the National Council. On March 6, 2014, 93 national councilors voted for and 93 national councilors against facilitating the export of war material. Lustenberger waved the template through with a casting vote. The Juso then criticized him as a torture friend. He did not run again in the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2015 .

In addition to his professional activity as a self-employed master carpenter and his parliamentary mandates, he presided over the CVP cantonal party in Lucerne from 2001 to 2005. From 2005 to 2016 he was the central president of the Association of Swiss Master Carpenters and Furniture Manufacturers (VSSM) and since 2008 a board member of the Swiss Trade Association (SGV). He is also President of Swiss Label (Society for the Promotion of Swiss Products and Services) and of SAQ (Swiss Association for Quality).

Lustenberger has been the mayor of Romoos since March 2019 . It is his first office at the community level and the first office in an executive branch.

Private

Ruedi Lustenberger lives in the municipality of Romoos, is married and has five grown children.
