Franz Gustav von Mitzlaff

Franz Gustav von Mitzlaff (born January 3, 1707 in Schwuchow ; † August 13, 1789 in Frankfurt an der Oder ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 11th Dragoon Regiment as well as governor in Stötterlingenburg and Horneburg .

Life

His father was Karl Gustav von Mitzlaff († January 1750), Swedish captain under Karl XII. , and his wife Katharina Maria, née von Bandemer .

Military career

In 1722 Mitzlaff became Page with Queen Sophie Dorothea . In 1727 he came as a Junker in the "Sonsfeld" dragoon regiment . There Mitzlaff rose to major . He also took part in the Rhine campaign of 1734. During the Silesian Wars he fought in the Battle of Hohenfriedberg . At Hochkirch he was wounded in the foot. In the Seven Years' War Mitzlaff fought near Groß Jägersdorf , Liegnitz , Torgau and Freiberg . Mitzlaff received the order Pour le Mérite .

In September 1766 he became governor of Horneburg. In August 1767 Mitzlaff became a lieutenant colonel and in May 1769 a colonel . In September 1770 he became chief of the "Platen" dragoon regiment and in May 1771 he was promoted to major general. He lost more and more of his hearing and received his requested release on May 11, 1778. In addition, Mitzlaff received a pension of 800 thalers and became governor of Gatersleben . He then moved to Frankfurt an der Oder , where he died on August 13, 1789.

Mitzlaff married Johanna Rosine Lauterbach (* 1738) in Sagan on January 3, 1774, with whom he already had a son and a daughter.
