Franz Seraph Vincenz Emanuel Freiherr von Sommaruga (born April 18, 1780 in Vienna ; † October 2, 1860 there ) was an Austrian lawyer, professor and briefly Minister of Education and Justice.

In the revolutionary year of 1848 , Sommaruga was briefly Minister of Education under Prime Minister Franz von Pillersdorf from March 20, 1848 to May 7, 1848 and Minister of Justice from April 22, 1848 to May 7, 1848.

On July 18, 1860 he was made an honorary citizen of Vienna . In 1894 the Sommarugagasse in Vienna- Währing (18th district) was named after him.
