Franz Tischhauser (composer)

Franz Tischhauser (born March 28, 1921 in Bern ; † May 26, 2016 ) was a Swiss composer .

Life

After graduating from high school in St. Gallen, Franz Tischhauser studied composition with Paul Müller-Zurich and piano at the Zurich Conservatory . From 1951 he worked for Radio Beromünster (today Radio SRF) in the Radio Studio Zurich, where he was head of the music department from 1971 to 1983. Fascinated by Alban Berg at a young age , he emerged as a composer with humorous works in tonal music , to which he confessed out of conviction. In 2002 he established the Amadeus Foundation . He had lived in the municipality of Teufen ZH am Irchel since 1958 .
