Franz Xaver Karl Palko (born March 3, 1724 in Breslau , † 1767 in Prague ) was a German history and portrait painter and etcher .

life and work

He was the son of the largely unknown Anton Palko († 1754) and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the Accademia in Venice . Giuseppe Maria Crespi shows a particular influence in Palko's work . Palko was subsequently in Kremsier , Brno , Dresden (as a Saxon - Polish court painter under Friedrich August II. ), Raudnitz , Prague and in Munich as an electoral Bavarian court painter under Maximilian III. Joseph active.

Many of his works are still preserved today and are represented in collections throughout the former Habsburg monarchy and in German-speaking countries.
