Franz de Paula Graf von Hartig , pseudonym : Gotthelf Zurecht (born June 5, 1789 in Dresden , † January 11, 1865 in Vienna ) was an Austrian statesman and publicist .

Life

He was born as an Austrian in Dresden because his father of the same name, the diplomat, historian and poet Franz de Paula Anton von Hartig (1758–1797), landlord a . a. on Niemes , Wartenberg , Alteiche and Berskowitz, Real Privy Councilor and Chamberlain , at that time the authorized minister at the Electoral Saxon court in Dresden.

Hartig entered the Austrian civil service with excellent training, received the Gubernium of Styria in 1825 at the age of 36 and became governor of Lombardy in 1830 , which he administered in an exemplary manner and where he enjoyed great popularity.

Appointed Minister of State and Conference in 1840, he received the financial department of the State Council and promoted the railway system and other economic reforms.

In 1848 he retired into private life and wrote several frank writings explaining the causes of the revolutions of 1848/1849 .

Appointed to the Austrian Reichsrat after 1859 , he showed not only courage and expertise, but also great parliamentary skills. In the mansion he was one of the pioneers of the overall state idea.

Hartig married on January 6, 1810 in Vienna Juliana Countess von Grundemann-Falkenberg (born March 26, 1788 in Vienna; † October 27, 1866 there), the daughter of Count Emanuel von Grundemann-Falkenberg and Countess Marie Anne von Althann. The couple had the following children:
