Franz von Schwartz (1839–1907)

Franz von Schwartz (born January 18, 1839 in Münster , † March 28, 1907 in Konstanz ) was a German administrative lawyer in Prussia.

Life

His parents were the Prussian Lieutenant General Julius August von Schwartz (* April 4, 1811 - November 23, 1883) and his wife Jenny Marie Anna Sophie Margarethe Straeter (* January 31, 1814; † May 28, 1872). His father had made a special contribution to the siege of Metz and was knighted for it in 1871.

Franz von Schwartz studied law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . After graduating from 1861 he was auscultator in the government in Magdeburg . He was also a government assessor in Magdeburg (1866), with the government in Königsberg (1867) and the government in Gumbinnen (1868). From 1869 to 1872 he was in the Hohenzollern Lands . Initially as an assessor and from 1876 as a Councilor he was with the government in Merseburg . With the government in Magdeburg since 1877, was transferred to the government in Wiesbaden in 1889 as senior councilor . From 1891 he was the administrative court director and deputy district president in the administrative district of Szczecin . On April 20, 1894, he returned to the (Catholic) Hohenzollern region as President of the Government . At his own request, he retired at the end of February 1898 at the age of 59. He retired in Konstanz and died at the age of 68 in the Vincentius Hospital there.

He married Christine Schwarz (* July 21, 1848) from Isselburg on October 3, 1869 . The couple had several children:

  • Oskar Ludwig Theodor (born January 28, 1873 - † January 8, 1910), former lieutenant colonel. D. ∞ Ilse Wilhelmine Ernestine Luise Schotten (born September 19, 1884)
