Franziska Fritz , after marrying Fritz-Glahn (born January 3, 1991 in Hildburghausen ) is a German bobsleigh athlete .

Franziska Fritz is a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr sports promotion group in Frankenberg, Saxony . She lives in Chemnitz , initially started for the BRC Riesa , since summer 2015 for its successor BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg and is trained by René Thierfelder . The student of real estate management and facilities management at the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences has been a pusher in bobsleigh since 2009. Previously, she was an active athlete as a discus thrower , but was no longer able to practice the sport as desired after an injury.

Fritz made her international racing debut in November 2010 with driver Miriam Wagner in Igls, finishing fifth in a European Cup race. A year later, the doubles in Königssee reached third place for the first time on the podium. A few days later she won her first race in Winterberg, followed by another victory in St. Moritz in January 2012 . At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Igls, Wagner / Fritz missed a medal by one place behind the Austrians Christina Hengster / Anna Feichtner and their compatriots Stefanie Szczurek / Franziska Bertels and Carolin Zenker / Stephanie Schneider . In November 2012, two more victories followed in Igls and, by December, five second places in Igls, Winterberg and La Plagne . Wagner and Fritz won the title at the Junior World Championships in 2012 in Igls. This qualified them for the 2013 Bobsleigh World Championships in St. Moritz, where they finished seventh. In December 2013 the first appearances in the Bobsleigh World Cup followed . In Park City , Fritz, alongside pilot Cathleen Martini in fifth and fourth, missed two podium positions by just a few places. At the beginning of January 2014, Fritz switched to Sandra Kiriasis' bob and won her first race in the World Cup with it in Winterberg. At the World Cup race at Königssee, which was also the 2014 European Bobsleigh Championship , Fritz was runner-up at Kiriasis' side, behind Fabienne Meyer and Tanja Mayer from Switzerland. The highlight of the season was the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , where she missed a desired medal with Kiriasis in fifth place in the Bob Germany I.
