Frédéric Cassivi (born June 12, 1975 in Sorel , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with the Reading Royals from the ECHL in February 2013 .
Career
The 1.93 m tall goalie began his career in the Canadian junior league QMJHL before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft as the 210th player in the ninth round of the Ottawa Senators .
Cassivi spent several years with various Senator farm teams , and in 1999 he was hired as a free agent by the Colorado Avalanche . There he was only used in the farm team of the Avalanche the Hershey Bears in the AHL . In 2002 Cassivi was transferred from the Avalanche to the Atlanta Thrashers . Here he got a few NHL missions in the following time, but did not make the permanent jump into the regular squad and spent most of the time with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL. In the 2004/05 season he played for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks .
In 2005 , Frédéric Cassivi moved to the Washington Capitals and thus back to the Hershey Bears, who had since become a cooperation partner of the franchise from the capital. In the same year he won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as Most Valuable Player of the AHL Playoffs. For the 2008/09 season , the goalkeeper signed a contract with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League . For the 2009/10 season he moved to Austria to the Vienna Capitals , which he left again for the 2010/11 season.
In February 2013, Cassivi was signed by the Reading Royals from the ECHL . After just one ECHL deployment, his contract was terminated a few days later.
