Friedel H. Eggelmeyer

Friedel Eggelmeyer (born January 4, 1950 in Ueffeln , Osnabrück district ) is a former Bundeswehr officer and ministerial official . Most recently, he was Political Director at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development until 2012 .

Life

Eggelmeyer began after graduating from high school in Ibbenbüren in May 1968 completed his studies, which he for his invitation to the Armed Forces as a conscript ended in April 1969th

In mid-1969 he became a temporary soldier and officer candidate with the 333 tank battalion in Lingen / Ems . Together with his promotion to lieutenant in April 1971, he was appointed as a professional soldier . After completing his officer training, Eggelmeyer served as platoon leader , intelligence officer (S2) and troop test officer in the tank training battalion 93 in Munster (Örtze) .

In 1976 he became company commander of 3./Panzerbataillon 333. From 1980 he took part in the two-year general staff training at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg-Blankenese . Subsequently, Eggelmeyer was transferred to the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Bonn as the General Staff Officer of the Sanitary Inspector . His subsequent activity as Chief of Staff (G3) of Homeland Security Brigade 52 in Lingen / Ems from 1984 to 1986 was followed by a two-and-a-half-year service with NATO in Rheindahlen , where he was most recently as Military Assistant to the Chief of Staff Northern Army Group (NORTHAG) was used. In 1988 Eggelmeyer, at the age of 38, the youngest commander of the German army, took over command of the 33rd Panzer Battalion in Neustadt am Rübenberge in the Hanover region. In the autumn of 1997 Eggelmeyer took leave from the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) as a soldier to work in the “International Politics” working group of the FDP parliamentary group. On the basis of his application, he was given the rank of Colonel i. G. retired. He continued his work in the “International Politics” working group in the FDP parliamentary group, now as an advisor for security policy. In addition, he was appointed deputy head of the parliamentary group's staff.

At the beginning of 2010, the then Federal Minister Dirk Niebel (FDP) was appointed head of department at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), where he was responsible for European and multilateral development policy and for bilateral cooperation for the regions of Southeast Europe, the South Caucasus and the Middle East and Afghanistan / Pakistan was responsible. At the same time, as governor, he represented German interests at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome. As part of a restructuring of the ministry, he took over the newly created "Planning and Communication" department as Political Director at the end of 2011. In this function, he was also the permanent representative of the State Secretary from 2011 .

In July 2012 Friedel Eggelmeyer was retired.
