Friederike Stolz

Friederike Renate Stolz (born January 23, 1913 in Linz ; † July 14, 1989 in Gallspach ) was an Austrian ceramist and sculptor .

Friederike Stolz is the daughter of the Linz zoologist and taxidermist Bernhard Stolz , who works as an employee of the Upper Austrian State Museum u. a. 1897 to 1906 designed the animals of the Linz grotto railway .

She first received vocal training at the Linz Conservatory before starting her studies at the Vienna Art Academy .

She expanded her knowledge during a two-year stay in Italy , where stucco work , stained glass windows and mosaics were created. From 1938 she received orders for reliefs , busts , statues , fountains, etc. a. m., which also found official recognition from the Third Reich and u. a. with the Gaukulturpreis Oberdonau 1941 (recognition award) and with the professional and honorary title Professor hc .

After the Linz Grotto Railway was destroyed by a bomb, Friederike Stolz presented plans for the new construction. In 1946, she and a team of eight ceramists were commissioned to carry them out and is considered the "mother of the Linz Grotto Railway" .

Then she continued her artistic work with war memorials , bronze statues, church renovations and ceramic work.
