Friederike von Kirchbach

Friederike von Kirchbach (born May 28, 1955 in Gersdorf , Döbeln district ) is a Protestant theologian and former provost of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO). She was general secretary of the German Evangelical Church Congress .

Life

Kirchbach was born in 1955 as the second of four children of the pastor Sieger von Kirchbach (1924-2014, son of the theologian Arndt von Kirchbach from Dresden ) and the cantor Dorothea von Kirchbach, née. Helm (* 1927), born in Gersdorf near Leipzig . Her parents had moved from West Germany to the GDR before she was born. They followed the call of the church there, which was suffering from a lack of pastors. She grew up in Neuhausen in the Ore Mountains .

After studying theology in Leipzig and Jena , she was state youth warden in the Saxon state office for young congregations from 1986 to 1992 . This was followed by a position as parish priest in Kreischa near Dresden until 1998 . From 1994 to 1997 she was involved in the editorial preparation of the “Common Word of the Churches on the Economic and Social Situation”. Between 2000 and 2005 she was Secretary General of the German Evangelical Church Congress. Since June 16, 2005 she has been provost of the "Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia". As provost , she was the theological director in the Consistory in Berlin and at the same time deputy to the bishop. She headed department 2 (theological leadership, theology and church building, church life, church work with children and young people) . After her ten-year term of office ended in June 2015, Christian Stäblein became her successor in August 2015. After being voted out of office, Friederike von Kirchbach supported the House of One in Berlin on behalf of the EKBO church leadership .

Since June 1, 2016, Friederike von Kirchbach has been a pastor in the St. Thomas parish in Berlin-Kreuzberg .

From 2007 to 2015 she chaired the Berlin-Brandenburg Ecumenical Council.

She is divorced and has three children; she gave up her married name Woldt .

She is a cousin of Hans-Peter von Kirchbach , the former inspector general of the Bundeswehr .
