Friederike Else Käte de Haas , b. Resch , (born August 16, 1944 in Bielatal ; † June 17, 2019 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1990 to 2009 she was a member of the Saxon State Parliament .

Life

After graduating from the Kreuzschule in Dresden in 1963 , she was denied access to medical studies because she was not a member of the FDJ for political and religious reasons . Therefore, she learned the profession of infant and pediatric nurse at the Evangelical Paul Gerhardt Stift in Lutherstadt Wittenberg and worked from 1965 to 1974 at the Medical Academy Dresden , then in the Dresden Sports Medical Service and in the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital Dresden , then until 1990 as a housewife.

She was of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination, married to a doctor and had four children.

politics

After the fall of the Wall, de Haas joined the CDU in spring 1990 and was elected to the Saxon state parliament in October of the same year. From 1990 to 1994 she was Parliamentary State Secretary in the State Chancellery ( Gender Equality Division ), from 1994 to 1999 Minister of State for Equality between Women and Men in the Biedenkopf II cabinet and from September 2001 to June 2005 she was district chairwoman of the CDU Dresden. Her election as the Saxon Commissioner for Foreigners in December 2004 caused a sensation, as the NPD counter-candidate Mirko Schmidt received more votes than the NPD had in the state parliament.

In the selection of the direct candidate in the constituency of Dresden 3 for the state elections in 2009, she was defeated by Patrick Schreiber and subsequently missed re-entry into the state parliament despite number 9 on the list, as the CDU Saxony obtained more direct mandates than would have been granted to it after the second share of the vote and thus its state list did not come into play. On December 9, 2009, Martin Gillo was elected as her successor as Saxon Commissioner for Foreigners .

Honorary positions

Friederike de Haas was state chairwoman of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge . She was also a founding member of the Friends of the Evangelical Cross Gymnasium in 1991.

Honors

On March 1, 2012, de Haas received the Saxon Order of Merit . The reason stated:

“As the representative for foreigners in the Saxon state parliament, Friederike de Haas has made a decisive contribution to a policy of immigration and its promotion. She had the humanitarian concerns of refugees and people with a migration background in mind. At the same time, she was always aware of the great importance immigration has for society. With the power of persuasion she conveyed the possible future opportunities that lie in the integration of foreign citizens. It is thanks to her that naturalization in Saxony was celebrated for the first time in Germany with a festive act. This step appropriately expresses that the Free State of Saxony invites and welcomes people of other origins. "
