Heiner Sandig

Heiner Sandig (born June 12, 1945 in Niederneuschönberg ) is a German pastor and politician ( CDU ). From 1990 to 2004 and 2008/2009 he was a member of the Saxon State Parliament and from 1992 to 2004 the Saxon Commissioner for Foreigners .

Life

Sandig, who grew up in Niederneuschönberg in the Ore Mountains, was expelled from the Extended High School for political reasons . He passed his Abitur at the Church Proseminar Moritzburg ( pre-seminar ) and studied Protestant theology at the Theological Faculty in Leipzig from 1963 to 1968 . After preparatory service and a second theological exam, he was parish priest in Gröditz and Nauwalde from 1971 to 1990 . Heiner Sandig was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran State Synod of Saxony . Retired in 2005, the theologian continues to be an honorary pastor of the Streumen parish and a member of the board of the Zeithain parish.

Heiner Sandig is married and has three children, his daughter Ulrike Almut Sandig is a writer.

politics

After the fall of the Wall in 1989, Sandig joined the CDU and became district chairman of the Riesa CDU in early 1990 . He was elected to the Saxon state parliament in 1990 through constituency 20 and was able to win a direct mandate in constituency 37 in the following state elections in Saxony in 1994 and 1999 . In the first and second legislative periods he was a vice-president of the Saxon state parliament. The politician held the office of Foreigners Commissioner for Saxony from 1992 to 2004. Sandig is chairman of the prison advisory board at Zeithain prison . He has been a member of the federal executive committee and chairman of the regional executive committee of the Evangelical Working Group of the CDU since 2007 .

In February 2008, he replaced Thomas Pietzsch , who had left the state parliament. In the state parliament, Heiner Sandig was a member of the committee for social affairs, health, family, women and youth , the petitions committee and the second committee of inquiry of the fourth electoral term. In the state elections in 2009 he did not run again as a candidate and consequently left the state parliament in September 2009.

On May 27, 2002, Heiner Sandig was awarded the Saxon Constitutional Medal by Erich Iltgen, President of the State Parliament .
