Friedrich Wilhelm Karl Leopold Freiherr Böcklin von Böcklinsau (born June 1, 1767 in Ettenheim , † March 5, 1829 in Rust ) was a major general from Baden .

Life

Friedrich was the eldest son of the same name Friedrich Freiherr Böcklin von Böcklinsau (1745-1813) and his wife Charlotte, née Freiin Roeder von Diersburg (1743-1820). His father was Lord of Rust, Imperial Chamberlain , Privy Councilor and Commander of the Order of St. John .

Military career

Böcklin received his education in the pagerie of the Duke of Braunschweig . He then entered the military and took part in the siege of Maastricht as a captain during the First Coalition War. With this rank he was transferred to the Baden Army in 1803 and advanced to Major in the Grenadier Battalion in 1805 . The following year he marched to Prussia, took part in the siege of Danzig and was one of the troops that occupied Tyrol. After Böcklin was promoted to colonel and regimental commander in 1809 , he moved with his so-called "Palatinate Regiment" against Austria and in 1812 against Russia . There he saw the fire in Moscow . During the retreat he was assigned to guard the safe of Emperor Napoleon and was taken prisoner near Vilna in early December 1812 . Böcklin did not return to his home in Baden until 1814 and was given the task of organizing the Landsturm .

For his work during the wars, Böcklin received the Knight's Cross of the Military Karl Friedrich Order of Merit and the Officer's Cross of the Legion of Honor . Under awarding of the character he retired in 1826 as a major general and lived after his retirement on his estate Rust.

family

Böcklin married Luise Freiin von Rathsamhausen (1768–1799) on March 29, 1798 and, after her untimely death, on October 1, 1799, with her sister Caroline (1766–1834). The following children were born from this marriage:
