Friedrich Bartels (theologian)

Friedrich Bartels (born January 28, 1903 in Nienburg / Weser ; † June 29, 1973 in Hemmingen-Westerfeld ) was a German Lutheran theologian and clergyman vice-president of the Hanover regional church office .

Life

Born as the son of a teacher and organist and his wife, Bartels attended the secondary school in his home town of Nienburg and, after graduating from high school, began studying Protestant theology in Göttingen . In March 1926 he passed the first theological exam. He completed his vicariate with state youth pastor Kayser and at the Erichsburg seminary . After the second theological examination in September 1928 and ordination on October 28th of that year, he became a parish collaborator in Duderstadt , and on June 1st, 1930 pastor in Neuhaus (Elbe) . After the leave of the German-Christian members Bartels resigned as staunch opponent of the German Christians in 1935 at the instigation of Bishop Marahrens in the spiritual as a laborer Landeskirchenamt one. On October 1, 1936, he became a regional church councilor, and on March 19, 1943 an upper regional church councilor. He remained connected to the pastoral service: in 1939/40 he was a preacher in the castle parish in Hanover.

From 1945 to 1953 Bartels was the "administrator of the pastor's office" in Wettbergen at the Johannes-der-Täufer-Kirche .

In the regional church office, his responsibilities included church instruction, school work, social work, industrial diaconia, refugee and displaced persons and the Evangelical Academy in Loccum. Among other things, Friedrich Bartels gave decisive impetus for the establishment and development of the social medical office of the regional church. As head of the school department, he had particular merit in redesigning the relationship between church and school. In 1965 he was appointed clergyman vice-president of the regional church office. From 1970 to 1972 he was chairman of the working group for adult education in the area of ​​the Evangelical Churches in Lower Saxony.

Friedrich Bartels was buried in the cemetery in Hemmingen-Westerfeld .
