Friedrich Breuninger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Breuninger (born October 11, 1794 in Backnang ; † May 3, 1880 in Kirchheim unter Teck ) was a German pharmacist .

He learned pharmacy in Backnang . Then he worked there and in Heilbronn with Gustav Mayer . He was also a field pharmacist in the 1st and 2nd campaign against France , an assistant in Tübingen with Gustav Friedrich Märklin , in Kirchheim unter Teck with Gottlob Gaupp and in the court pharmacy in Stuttgart . In 1820 he passed his pharmacy exam in Stuttgart. A year later he took over the lower pharmacy of his former boss in Kirchheim unter Teck.

Since Friedrich Breuninger did not find enough satisfaction in running his pharmacy, he tried his luck, like many other Württemberg pharmacists, with running a manufacturing company. In 1844 he acquired 52 acres of peat fields on the Alb plateau between Schopfloch and Ochsenwang and built a peat factory . He was unable to gain sales or enough workers, so this company failed.

He started his next attempt in Kirchheim unter Teck. Here he bought a place for a laboratory and dealt with the production of chlorinated lime . In 1849 he bought land at the confluence of the Lauter and Lindach rivers and built a factory and residential building with a waterworks . From 1850 he produced artificial ultramarine there. In order to expand the ultramarine factory further, Friedrich Breuninger sold his pharmacy to Hölzle in 1851. In the factory, 200 quintals of ultramarine were produced annually , which was sold at home and abroad. Friedrich Breuninger received a chemical award for ultramarine at an exhibition in Munich in 1851 .

When he expanded his trade to America , he ran into financial difficulties. He refused support from the state, so that his operations went bankrupt in 1856 and had to be sold.
