Ludloff received his basic school education through private tuition from various teachers and, in contrast to his brothers, decided against agricultural and theological training. He attended the Rudolstadt grammar school from 1823 to 1827 and graduated with a high school diploma . He then studied theology in Jena for two years . From 1829, with interruptions, until 1834, he worked as a private tutor with Friedrich von Witzleben (1797–1862) in Rudolstadt. During this time he continued his education and passed the pro candidatura exam at the Princely Consistory in Arnstadt . In 1832 he studied theology for six months in Berlin with Friedrich Schleiermacher , which he finished at Friedrich von Witzleben's request and returned to Rudolstadt.

School and church service

He returned to his parents' house from 1834 to 1836, took on responsibility for agriculture, but then prepared for a position in church or school service.

From 1836, after successfully passing his philosophical examination, he taught as a collaborator at the Gymnasium in Arnstadt with the subjects religion, German language, history, Latin and Hebrew. At the request of the privy councilor von Ziegeler, he was again after a successful examination Examen pro ministerio in the same year deacon for the town church Sondershausen. In the four years that followed, Ludloff first became consistorial assessor with a seat and vote in the Princely Consistory and later also consistorial councilor .

Afterwards he was educator of Karl Günther , Günther Leopold von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen and Princess Elisabeth Caroline Luise, the children of Prince von Sondershausen, until 1848 . He also accompanied the sons to Blochmann 's grammar school in Dresden.

At the beginning of 1847 Ludloff was elected a member of the state government by a princely decree, but could not take up this position because he was recalled to Dresden to prepare the princes for confirmation .

State government

In mid-1847 he finally took up his work in the state government. In the summer of 1848, the Prince of Sondershausen was again recalled. Ludloff, now temporarily governor, was to accompany the princes on a trip to Geneva . The trip and stay with the prince initially accompanied him from September 1848 to July 1849. From September 1849 he was again active in the state government and worked on church and school issues. In 1850 he was appointed ministerial and church council and was active in the state government until mid-1858.

Rectory

From 1858 he was a local chaplain in Schernberg and Himmelsberg near Sondershausen in order to earn the training costs for his children . But he kept his seat on the Princely Council of Churches.

family

He was married and had three children. He was the father of Friedrich Ludloff , Max Ludloff and Carl Ludloff and the grandfather of Karl Ludloff . Ludloff was friends with Thilo Irmisch .

Correspondence (selection)

From 1839 Ludloff was in correspondence with Friedrich Froebel :

  • Froebel wrote to Ludloff in 1839, of whom a draft letter exists. He had been informed that Ludloff had been commissioned with the execution of a nursery school in Sondershausen and lists his educational knowledge in the draft to Ludloff.
  • He writes to Heinrich Langethal whether Langethal still knows Ludloff from his time as a teacher at von Witzleben; Ludloff had been introduced to Froebel by the Princess von Sondershausen. Froebel reports on Ludloff's request to run a kindergarten .
  • Fröbel later wrote to Wilhelm Middendorff that he should ask the candidate Gustav Stephani , who was sent from Sonderhausen for training in child care, to prepare a draft for himself and Ludloff to use .
  • At the beginning of 1842, Middendorff replied to Ludloff that Gustav Stephani had completed his training and passed on the certificate.

Trivia

In March 1847, Ludloff held the ceremonial address for the confirmation of Hereditary Prince Karl Günther and Prince Günther Leopold von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen in the town church of Sondershausen, which is described as " excellent, masterful and exemplary " in many ways . He appeared again for the first time as a clergyman in his former parish and for the last time as a prince teacher.
