Friedrich Dieckell , also Fredi Dieckell , (* July 24, 1931 in Bremerhaven ; † February 27, 2013 in Bremerhaven) was a German businessman , entrepreneur in retail and patron .

Entrepreneur

Dieckell opened the discount store Für Sie on Weserstraße in Bremerhaven in 1962 . This became a chain of stores, which he sold in 1975. Gradually, he settled further businesses in the areas of real estate , housing, ship investments , management activities of holding companies in his hometown.

Since 1984 Dieckell was a member and from 1985 to 1990 deputy chairman of the supervisory board of IG Farbenindustrie AG i.L. Until 1986, Dieckell sat with Karl Ehlerding on the supervisory board of VA Vermögensverwaltungs AG . In the 1980s and 1990s, companies such as Kaufring and Brilliant Leuchten were part of his division at times. He acquired the majority in the Spar chain and later sold it to the French Intermarché for a high three-digit million profit .

Der Spiegel magazine reported on the Cobra investor group of which Dieckell is a member. This group wanted - unsuccessfully - to influence the development of Commerzbank .

In the publication of Manager Magazin on October 12, 2010, his fortune was given as 300 million euros (347th place in the list of the 500 richest Germans ).

As an investor , he campaigned for the new development on Geestemünder Konrad-Adenauer-Platz and created a service center.

2012 existed u. a. the Dieckell Verwaltungs GmbH in Bremerhaven, Grashoff Road 7, is active in real estate.

Sailing

Dieckell was also an avid ocean sailor. He was the ship owner of the Yacht Diva , with which he and his crew (Richard Beilken, Manfred Seithe and helmsman Klaus Meyer) won the world championship for the second time in 1985.

For winning the world championship title, he and his crew received the silver laurel leaf from Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .

In 1998 his family set up the Dieckell Foundation . He supported various institutions in Bremerhaven with a large number of donations. In 1997, together with Sparkasse Bremerhaven, he launched the start-up award, endowed with 50,000 euros.

He took part in an endowed professorship at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences . He financed medical equipment for the Reinkenheide Central Hospital as well as for the Maritime School and the Workshop School. In addition, he promoted social, school, sporting and cultural activities in Bremerhaven.
