Friedrich Gideon von Wolky

Friedrich Gideon von Wolky (* 1735 in Silesia ; † September 6, 1803 in Strasburg in West Prussia ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the 10th Hussar Regiment .

Life

Military career

Wolky went into Saxon services in 1754 . When the army surrendered at Pirna at the beginning of the Seven Years' War , Wolky was first taken prisoner and then served in Prussia . He came on October 26, 1756 as an ensign in the Dragoon Regiment No. 12 . On March 5, 1758, he moved to the "Belling" hussar regiment as a second lieutenant . On September 25, 1758, he was promoted to prime lieutenant. On January 4, 1761 he became captain and squadron chief and on May 1, 1762 already major .

In the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 Wolky took part in the battle at Gabel and received the order Pour le Mérite on August 25, 1778 . On August 7, 1778, he had already become a lieutenant colonel . On May 21, 1785 he was promoted to colonel and on March 8, 1786 appointed commander of Hussar Regiment No. 8 . Already on March 23, 1787 he became chief of the hussar regiment No. 10 and on May 27, 1787 he was appointed major general . On January 6, 1794 he was also lieutenant general and took part in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 . On January 23, 1797 he received his resignation and a pension of 1200 thalers. He died on September 6, 1803 in Strasburg in West Prussia.

In 1764 Wolky married Ulrike Barbara Sophie von Lüskow (* 1746; † March 19, 1822), a daughter of Captain Jakob Albrecht von Lüskow (* February 16, 1703; † August 18, 1758) and Charlotte Sophie von Wieden (* 1717; † October 20, 1767). The couple had the following children:

  • Karl Christian Ewald Gerhard (born June 17, 1765 - † September 24, 1809), staff cavalry officer in Hussar Regiment No. 8
  • Johann Friedrich Ludwig (born November 13, 1768; † 1812), major in the Pomeranian Hussar Regiment (previously: Hussar Regiment No. 8)
  • Heinrich Gideon (* 1774 - 22 May 1852), Colonel a. D.
  • Charlotte Barbara Dorothea (born September 10, 1773; † March 29, 1847) ∞ Friedrich Theodor Ludwig von Gentzkow (born October 11, 1764; † January 24, 1836), son of Johann Adolf Friedrich von Gentzkow
