Art gallery in Isny Castle in the Allgäu

The predecessor of the Kunsthalle im Schloss Isny was the founding of the Schwaben Kunsthalle in Hofen in 1993 . This enabled a large number of the large-format works to be made accessible to the public. The Time of the Gods collection with approx. 60 marble and bronze replicas of Hellenistic sculptures (including a copy of the Barberine Faun ) is on permanent loan from Friedrich Hechelmann to the Kunsthalle. Every year at Easter and during the summer holidays, a summer academy course program takes place in the Kunsthalle Isny : The School of Seeing for Representative Painting.

Friedrich Hechelmann Foundation

The listed property with the St. Georg monastery , the St. Georg and Jakobus church and the associated green areas was sold to an Isny community in 1997 as a temporary solution. The foundation under civil law Friedrich Hechelmann und Schloß Isny Kunst- und Kulturstiftung - Friedrich Hechelmann Foundation for short - established at the end of December 1998 took over the property in 1999, except for the outbuildings. The purpose of the foundation is to preserve and maintain the listed former Benedictine monastery Schloss Isny and the associated land, to secure the artistic work and estate of Friedrich Hechelmann, and to promote art and culture in the city of Isny and the Allgäu region.

The restoration work was largely financed by Friedrich Hechelmann, Josef Baschnegger, Rolf and Hans Müller and Annemarie and Walter Lautermann. The foundation covers running costs primarily through leases, for example to the art gallery in the palace .
