Friedrich Meyer (theologian, 1832)
Friedrich Meyer (born March 17, 1832 in Darmstadt ; † June 5, 1891 in Neuendettelsau ) was an Evangelical Lutheran pastor and rector of the Neuendettelsau deaconry .
Life
Meyer studied theology at the University of Giessen . In 1850, during his studies, he became a member of the Nassauer Hof fraternity . Together with Otto Zöckler , Jacob Volhard and others, he founded the Giessener Wingolf , a non-beating student association that was particularly committed to Christian values. After his studies he was pastor at the town church Michelstadt .
In 1872 he was elected rector of the Neuendettelsau deaconess institution as successor to Löhe . During his term of office the establishment of an after-work house for old, disabled sisters (1876), the expansion of the industrial school founded by Löhe (1878), the acquisition of the inn "Zum Anker", which also served as a postal expedition (1880), and the construction a separate church ( St. Laurentius ) for the diaconal community (1887). He also initiated the establishment of branches in Bruckberg and Himmelkron , but was unable to complete the negotiations due to serious illness.
Meyer saw himself as a student of Löhe. He took over the time of day services and other liturgical changes he had introduced and recorded them in a book ("Order of the daily house service in the Neuendettelsau deaconess house").
