Friedrich Georg Emanuel Ferdinand von Vogel (born August 21, 1775 in Cosel , † December 29, 1846 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Friedrich was a son of the Prussian Prime Lieutenant Friedrich Bartholomäus von Vogel (* 1740) and his wife Therese, née Bleß (1752-1804).

Military career

Vogel came to Berlin as a cadet on May 4, 1789 , was hired as a non-commissioned officer on April 1, 1792 and as an ensign in the von Reitzenstein infantry regiment of the Prussian army on October 14, 1794 . With this association he took part in the First Coalition War. On February 1, 1796, he was promoted to Second Lieutenant and served as a battalion adjutant from 1798 to 1805. He then came as adjutant general to his regiment chief , General von Tauentzien, and was promoted to prime lieutenant on October 13, 1805. In the Fourth Coalition War , Vogel fought in the battle near Schleiz and in the Battle of Jena . While in retreat he was captured during the surrender near Prenzlau and was brought to Nancy .

On December 24, 1808, he became staff captain and again adjutant to Lieutenant General Tauentzien. On October 20, 1810 Vogel was promoted to captain and on November 8, 1812 to major . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battle near Jühnsdorf, received the Iron Cross 2nd class and took part in the siege of Wittenberg. In the battle of Dennewitz he was awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class and the Order of St. Anna 2nd Class. Later he fought in the blockade of Stettin and the sieges of Torgau and Magdeburg. For Magdeburg Vogel was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class and the Sword Order II Class.

On April 2, 1815, he was transferred to the 1st Kurmärk Landwehr Infantry Regiment, but on April 6, 1815, he was reassigned to the adjutantage. With a patent from October 10, 1815, Vogel was promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 3, 1815. On February 8, 1817 he was assigned to the 1st Department of the War Ministry (Army Department) and promoted to colonel on April 19, 1819 with a patent . From October 28, 1820 to May 28, 1821 Vogel was active as a service in the Emperor Alexander Grenadier Regiment . He was then appointed commander of the 20th Infantry Regiment in Torgau . Vogel received the service cross on June 18, 1825 , before he took his leave as Major General on March 24, 1829 with the statutory pension . He died on December 29, 1846 in Berlin and was buried four days later in the garrison cemetery.

family

Vogel married Ida von Glasenapp (1797–1866) on July 5, 1814 in Berlin . She was a daughter of Alexander von Glasenapp (1768–1841) from his second marriage to Ulrike Philippine Auguste Eltester. The son August Ludwig Georg Alexander (* 1815) emerged from the marriage.
