The agricultural village was created for the descendants of Huguenot religious refugees from France in 1775 under Landgrave Friedrich II of Hesse-Kassel , around the same time as the settlements Friedrichsfeld (now part of Trendelburg ) and Friedrichsthal (now part of Grebenstein ).
The first settlers were residents from the Huguenot settlements of Kelze , Schöneberg and Gewissenruh , who couldn't find enough space there. The first 10 families in Friedrichsdorf are said to have been descendants of the Huguenot families settled in Kelze, to whom 1 Kassel Acker Garten and 30 Kassel Acker land were allocated. The arable soil below the Wattberg could only be improved with great difficulty.
In 1815 the small half-timbered church and the adjoining school of the village were built. Until 1822 the congregation was looked after by a French preacher from Hofgeismar , before the German and French congregations in Hofgeismar were merged in the same year.
On December 31, 1970 Friedrichsdorf was incorporated into the city of Hofgeismar.
